The summer finally arrived in time for the Bladon 5k Fun Run at Blenheim Palace on 29th June. Organised by PE teacher Matt Gregor and children from Bladon Primary School, the charity event raised £328.50 for Oxfordshire Youth to support health and wellbeing in young people.

The event started at 9 am at Blenheim’s Pleasure Garden. Over 100 children and adults, including our CEO Jodie Lloyd-Jones, ran, jogged or walked around the course in beautiful summer weather.  Everyone had a great time! And regardless of their times, all participants received a medal at the end of the run.

Matt Gregor, Bladon Primary’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead, said, “Through events like this, we are supporting the work Oxfordshire Youth does with our staff and children. We had a great turnout and will be running more fundraisers in the coming months. We would love for more of our pupils, their families, and our community to get involved.”

Kevin Game, fundraiser at Oxfordshire Youth, praised the school’s support, “The fun run is a great example of how the Bladon community gets together to support local charities. Bladon Primary School and Matt Gregor continue to be strong supporters of Oxfordshire Youth, helping us support the youth sector and young people across Oxfordshire.”

“On behalf of Bladon Primary School and Oxfordshire Youth, we would like to thank Blenheim Palace for letting us use their grounds for the run. And, if anyone else would like to help us to support young people in their community or across the county, we would love to hear from them.”

If you fancy a bit more of a challenge, we still have a few charity places left for the Oxford Half Marathon in October. We will provide full fundraising training and advice, and an Oxfordshire Youth t-shirt. Call Kevin Game on 01865 767899 or fill in the contact form to become part of #TeamOxfordshireYouth.
