Active Oxfordshire have launched the Pathways Project, designed to support community groups to provide apprenticeship pathways for young people into employment.
To begin with Active Oxfordshire are trialling pathways into employment in the sport and physical activity sector for people living in Oxford (Rose Hill, the Leys), Banbury (Neithrop, Ruscote, Grimsbury) and Abingdon (Caldecott).
They are looking for partners to be involved in offering apprenticeship and volunteer opportunities.
1) Sign up as an employer who already run apprenticeships around physical activity, leisure and sport OR those keen to offer an apprenticeship for the first time, for example leisure providers, local councils, schools, larger sports clubs and community groups.
2) Community groups, sports clubs, youth clubs and schools who are interested in apprenticeships but don’t feel they can host the apprentice full-time. We will then support the formation of local consortia who can come together to feel the benefits of hosting an apprentice without the sole responsibility.
3) Local physical activity and sport organisations (such as community groups and sports clubs) who can offer voluntary opportunities; ideally with future pathways to paid work).
