Oxfordshire Youth’s Director of Innovation and Growth, Emmy O’Shaughnessy, garden partied at the palace to represent the youth sector and Oxfordshire’s young people

Our Deputy C.E.O. and Director of Innovation and Growth, Emmy O’Shaughnessy spent a beautiful day at the prestigious Buckingham Palace garden party, connecting with guests who have positively impacted on their communities. Emmy was nominated to attend this prestigious event in recognition of her voluntary sector career, which spans 20 years of service to Oxfordshire’s children and young people.

Reflecting on the meaning of the event for her, Emmy says, ‘My commitment to serving young people is life-long and powered by an unshakeable faith in our ability to ensure all young people lead lives full of purpose, free from the adverse effects of poverty and inequality. It was an honour to be amongst such an incredible array of people from across the whole of the country, all devoted to improving not only their local communities but also society as a whole.

Huge thanks to Mark Beard, former High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, for nominating me, and to all the people I met on the day for being such beacons in our community and advocates of the voluntary sector. Mark and I had a truly energising and happy experience, as you can see from the photo!’.
