Making Every Contact Count (MECC) is an approach to behaviour change that uses the day-to-day interactions we have with people to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing. It supports the delivery of consistent and concise healthy lifestyle information, enabling individuals to engage in conversations about their health.

Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West ICS and Talking Space Plus Oxfordshire have organised a number of MECC training courses for anyone working with the public in Oxfordshire, including the NHS, local authorities, and voluntary organisations. During the interactive, three-hour course, participants will develop the competence and confidence to have MECC conversations around issues such as smoking, alcohol, physical activity, healthy eating, and mental wellbeing – to support people to make positive lifestyle changes.
