Oxfordshire Youth supports Christmas Dinner for Care Leavers

13 November 2024

We are excited to announce that Oxfordshire Youth is supporting the incredible Christmas Dinner for Care Leavers event, an initiative started by award-winning author and poet Lemn Sissay, OBE and continually supported by the Gold from the Stone Foundation.

The Christmas Dinner for Care Leavers event is also being supported by a volunteer Steering Group, co-chaired by care-experienced Deputy CEO of Oxfordshire Youth, Emmy O’Shaughnessy and Michelle Johnsson, Headteacher of Chilworth Upper School in Oxford.

Supporting Care Leavers at this time of year

60% of the young people in our supported accommodation service are Care Leavers. For many Care Leavers, rather than experience the light and sparkle of Christmas, the festive season can be a challenging and lonely time. The Christmas Dinner is a way for us to show our care and support, and help create positive memories for all involved.

You can read more about this wonderful event in a recent press article by clicking here.

There are 50 spaces available and these will be in high demand. If you know an interested young person, please contact emmy.oshaughnessy@oxfordshireyouth.org. Children of Care Leavers are warmly welcome.
