Between 2011 and 2021, funding of youth provision declined by 64%, 19 out of 25 youth centres operated by Oxfordshire County Council closed between 2011 and 2023.
And 18,200 children and young people in Oxfordshire (aged 0-19 years) were living in low-income families in 2022.
It’s hard to believe that in a city renowned for its affluence and world-class universities that 1 in 6 children and young people are living below the poverty line.
We’re super excited to launch “Round Up for Youth” – a new local campaign that will raise critical funds and inspire more awareness about the power of youth work to change lives, unite communities, and tackle inequality of opportunity.
Young people are the future of our communities. By supporting their development and providing access to opportunities, we can help them grow into thriving, engaged individuals who contribute positively to society. Oxfordshire Youth’s life-changing services have opened doors and expanded possibilities for countless young people across the region.
We are proud to be partnered with Pennies to deliver this new initiative.
Round Up for Youth will invite beloved local cafes, restaurants, and shops to partner with our charity. Through this program, customers can “round up” their purchases to the nearest pound, with the difference going to support our youth development initiatives.
This simple act of donation makes a big impact. 90% of the rounded-up amount will directly benefit Oxfordshire Youth’s programs, while the remaining 10% will support the work of Pennies – the award-winning charity that powers the digital donation platform.
Join Us as a Round Up for Youth Partner By becoming a Round Up for Youth partner, you’ll play a vital role in shaping brighter futures for Oxfordshire’s young people. Your business can help ensure that every child and young person has access to the support, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.
To get involved, please reach out to Oxfordshire Youth’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, Ali Khan, at ali.khan@oxfordshireyouth.org.
Together, we can create a more equitable and vibrant future for the youth of Oxfordshire.
“Last year our donation volumes showed a 6% year on year increase – despite 80% of our partners’ doors being shut to consumers for much of the year. This is strong evidence of the UK public’s desire to give back to their communities.”
