Building Resilience

Building Resilience is a school exclusion reduction programme delivered in educational settings.

As part of the COMPASS Partnership, Building Resilience works with pupils identified by their schools and the Thames Valley Police Violence Reduction Unit as being at risk of exclusion and aims to keep them in education.

To maximise engagement, young people co-create and take part in a series of workshops tailored to specific needs that they and their school identify. These include drugs and alcohol, mental wellbeing, positive relationships, leadership and role modelling.

The programme also introduces participants to youth services in their local area, encouraging them to access safe spaces with their peers.

“To understand young people we need to empower them and allow their voices to be heard. Young people find the strength to speak up after attending our sessions.”
