The Transition Through Leadership programme enables 11-13-year-olds to develop leadership skills through supporting primary school students as they move into secondary education.
This can be a very scary time, especially for children who have missed all the normal preparations for going to ‘big school’ because of COVID. The programme supports year six students about to make the leap up to secondary school by matching them with buddies or mentors in years seven and eight.
Equipping young people to be role models and mentors is a powerful way to build self-confidence, enhance empathy and create friendships.
The intense impact of this work is recognised by the Co-op Foundation – one of our project funders – currently featuring Transition Through Leadership in its Digital Impact Report.
